Also, the error code <code>0x00000bc4<\/code> (Desc: <code>ERROR_PRINTER_NOT_FOUND<\/code>) or <code>0x00000709<\/code> (Desc: <code>ERROR_INVALID_PRINTER_NAME<\/code>) appears when adding a new network printer.<\/p>\n<pre>Operation could not be completed (error 0x00000bc4).\n\nNo Printers Were Found.<\/pre>\n<p>The printer name is invalid.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><h4>Cause<\/h4>\n<p>Windows 11 version 22H2 introduced a new group policy named \u201cConfigure RPC Connection settings.\u201d This policy setting controls which protocol and protocol settings to use for outgoing RPC connections to a remote print spooler.<\/p>\n<p>The default setting in 22H2 blocks Windows from finding your network printers. This causes your existing printers to be erased, and adding them manually causes the error 0x00000bc4.<\/p>\n<p>Setting \u201cConfigure RPC Connection settings\u201d to \u201cRPC over named pipes\u201d fixes the issue.<\/p>\n<h4>Solution<\/h4>\n<p>To fix the network printer error 0x00000bc4, try these steps:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Launch the Local Group Policy Editor (<code>gpedit.msc<\/code>)\n<li>Go to the following section:\n<pre>Administrative Templates \u2192 Printers \u2192 Configure RPC connection settings<\/pre>\n<li>Select \u201cRPC over named pipes\u201d from the dropdown, and click OK.<a href=\"https:\/\/tom.tomwork.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/rpc-printer-gpo-w11.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"737\" height=\"750\" title=\"rpc-printer-gpo-w11\" style=\"border: 0px currentcolor; border-image: none; display: inline; background-image: none;\" alt=\"rpc-printer-gpo-w11\" src=\"https:\/\/tom.tomwork.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/rpc-printer-gpo-w11_thumb.jpg\" border=\"0\"><\/a>\n<li>Exit the Group Policy Editor.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h6>Registry Setting for the above GPO<\/h6>\n<p>[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\Software\\Policies\\Microsoft\\Windows NT\\Printers\\RPC]<\/p>\n<p>There are 2 values that can be configured:<\/p>\n<p><code>RpcUseNamedPipeProtocol<\/code> REG_DWORD<\/p>\n<p>0: RpcOverTcp (default)<br \/>1: RpcOverNamedPipes<\/p>\n<h5>Credits<\/h5>\n<p>The above solution was initially found by <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/thomas_forde\/status\/1575096625470611458\">@thomas_forde<\/a>, who tweeted about it recently.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>After updating Windows 11 to version 22H2, your network printers may stop working.
