Using “Vista Shortcut Overlay Remover” Program<\/p><\/div>\n

1.<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0If you have not already, click on the Download button below to download the\u00a0Vista Shortcut Overlay Remover<\/strong>\u00a0(Vista Shortcut Overlay Manager) program below for the\u00a032-bit or 64-bit Windows 7<\/span><\/strong><\/a>\u00a0you have installed. Save the\u00a0.msi<\/strong>\u00a0file to your desktop, and install it.<\/p>\n

32-bit (x86) Windows 7<\/strong>

64-bit (x64) Windows 7<\/strong>
\n<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

2.<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0Double click on the program’s shortcut to run the program.<\/p>\n

3.<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0To Change, Restore, or Remove the Arrow for All Shortcuts<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

A) Select (dot) the arrow option you want for the shortcut arrow. (See screenshot below)
\nNOTE:<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0If you selected\u00a0Custom Arrow\u00a0<\/strong>to change the shortcut arrow, then click onSelect<\/strong>\u00a0and navigate to and choose a ICO (icon) file you have downloaded to use as the shortcut arrow<\/em>.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

4.\u00a0To Remove the “Shortcut” Name from All Shortcuts<\/span><\/span><\/strong>
\nNOTE:<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0See also:\u00a0<\/em>Shortcut Extension – Remove or Restore<\/a><\/p>\n

A) Check the box to also remove the\u00a0– Shortcut<\/strong>\u00a0name extension for new shortcuts that are created.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

5.<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0Click on\u00a0Apply<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

6.<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0Click on\u00a0Yes<\/strong>\u00a0to log off to apply the changes. (See screenshot below)<\/p>\n

1.<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0Click on the Download button below to download the file below.<\/p>\n

2.\u00a0To Remove the Shortcut Arrow<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

A) Open the downloaded ZIP file (step 1), and extract (drag and drop) the\u00a0Blank.ico<\/strong>file, and the\u00a0Remove_Shortcut_Arrow.reg<\/strong>\u00a0to the\u00a0desktop<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

B) Right click on the\u00a0Blank.ico\u00a0<\/strong>file and click on\u00a0Properties<\/strong>. Under the\u00a0General<\/strong>\u00a0tab, click on the\u00a0Unblock<\/span><\/a><\/strong>\u00a0button if there. (See screenshot below)
\nNOTE:<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0If the\u00a0Unblock<\/strong>\u00a0button is not there, then the file is already unblocked. Continue on to step D below<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0 Warning<\/div>\n
If you do not\u00a0unblock<\/strong>\u00a0the\u00a0Blank.ico<\/strong>\u00a0file first before moving it in step 2C, then you will only get a default white icon instead of the blank transparent icon like below.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

C) Copy and Paste the\u00a0Blank.ico\u00a0<\/strong>into the\u00a0C:Windows<\/strong>\u00a0folder, then click onContinue<\/strong>, and\u00a0Yes\u00a0<\/strong>(if prompted by UAC) to approve the copy.<\/p>\n

D) Right click on the extracted\u00a0Remove_Shortcut_Arrow.reg<\/strong>\u00a0file, and click onMerge<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

E) Click on\u00a0Run<\/strong>,\u00a0Yes<\/strong>,\u00a0Yes<\/strong>, and\u00a0OK<\/strong>\u00a0to approve the merge.<\/p>\n

F) Go to step 4.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

3.\u00a0To Restore the Default Shortcut Arrow<\/span><\/span><\/strong>
\nNOTE:<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0This will only work if you had originally removed the shortcut arrow using step 2 above. If you used some other method, then you will need to use\u00a0OPTION TWO<\/strong>\u00a0below instead<\/em>.<\/p>\n

A) Click on the Download button below to download the file below, and save it to yourdesktop<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Default_LNK_(Shortcut).reg<\/strong><\/p>\n

B) Right click on the\u00a0Default_LNK_(Shortcut).reg<\/strong>\u00a0file and click on\u00a0Merge<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

C) Click on\u00a0Run<\/strong>,\u00a0Yes<\/strong>,\u00a0Yes<\/strong>, and\u00a0OK<\/strong>\u00a0to approve the merge.<\/p>\n

D) In the\u00a0C:Windows<\/strong>\u00a0folder, right click on the\u00a0Blank.ico\u00a0<\/strong>file and click on\u00a0Delete<\/strong>,Continue<\/strong>, and\u00a0Yes\u00a0<\/strong>(if prompted by UAC).
\nNOTE:<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0This file will only be there if you used step 2 above to remove the shortcut arrow<\/em>.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

4.<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0Log off and log on, or restart the computer to apply.<\/p>\n
