How to enable AHCI : Windows XP « Expertester

In case your your XP installation was done
using IDE mode, and you decide to use AHCI for what ever reason, don’t
worry. You can do that without reinstalling your Windows XP. This trick
might usefull to for those who are confuse / lazy / afraid / <put
your reason here> to slipstream AHCI driver into WinXP installation
disc.

• Start Device Manager (Right click on My Computer –> Property –> Hardware –> Device Manager

• Right click on Primary IDE channel and choose Update Driver

• • Choose No, not at this time
  • Install a list or specific location (advance)
  • Don’t search. I will choose the driver to install

• • Have Disk
  • use AHCI driver (provided by manufacturer or download from net), in my case Acer 4530 provide AHCI driver for WinXP

• Then, restart your computer/notebook
• Enter BIOS (F2 usually for most notebook or DEL for most PC)
• Change your SATA Mode to AHCI (instead of IDE)
• Start your Computer (Windows)

Done.

Alternative Solution – Credit to Steve

I took a slightly different approach.
1) Get SATA drivers for Windows (whatever flavour you use)
2) Control Panel, Add New Hardware.
3) Yes, already connected, browse to the bottom, hit “add a new device”
4) No, point it to the directory of your SATA drivers
5) Choose your driver from the list that returns. (Mine was the nVidia SATA controller)
6) Uninstall other standard IDE controllers.
7) Reboot and enter your BIOS
Change to AHCI mode
9) Boot to Windows… which finds the *ACTUAL* AHCI controller, and installs the same driver as what you chose in step 5.
10) Windows wants to reboot. Do that.
11) Go to Device Manager and then uninstall the AHCI controller that
you installed (there will be two or more now, but you want to get rid
of the one with the exclamation mark)
12) Success!

That was a *LOT* easier than what I thought it would. After reading
many guides on how to do it with Intel chipsets with home-made registry
entries and copying files around… Installing the driver manually as a
“dummy” effectively does all that for you anyway!

Cheers people! The guide at the top was the closest that I found to succeeding, and put me on the right track!

XP 32-bit Drivers Support for HP Pavilion dv4, Presario CQ45 & Presario CQ40 [Intel Platform]

Important Notes:
A.Suggest to copy the all the drivers from the DVD media to a temporary folder on local HDD C: drive
B.You may need to reboot the system after each of the driver installation
c.Ignore the prompt for “Found New Hardward Wizard” dialog box by clicking cancel button.
D. Fn+F4 is not working on Discrete unit but you can toggle LCD via Nvidia control panel

Drivers installation instruction:

Please install the drivers in sequence order by going to the respective folder as below:

1. flash the Bios to F.11C as follow:
a. Copy the all the file from BIOS folder to either a DOS bootable diskette or a DOS bootable Thumbdrive
b. Boot the unit via either a Dos bootable diskette or dos bootable thumbdrive
c. At the DOS command prompt ->type Flash.bat and the unit shutdown after complete the BIOS flashing.

2.MSUAA -> run setup.exe

3.If the unit is using the Intel graphic then install the VGA driver from 3.Intel_VGA-32 folder -> run setup.exe

3.If the unit is using the Nvidia graphic then install the VGA driver from 3.nVidia_VGA folder -> run setup.exe

4.Audio -> run setup.exe

5.Intel_Chipset -> run setup.exe

6.Intel_MSM (Intel Storage matrix manager) -> run Setup.exe

7.LAN (network driver) -> run setup.exe

8.FingerPrint(if the unit has FP module) -> run setup.exe

9.CIR (remote Infra red driver, if the unit has IR module) ->run setup.exe

10.CardReader -> run Setup.exe

11.Modem (modem driver, if the unit has modem module) -> run setup.exe

12.Touchpad -> run setup.exe

13.WLAN (wireless LAN driver) ->run setup.exe

14.BTooth (if the unit has BT module) -> run setup.exe

After the install of Windows XP do the following :

1) Turn off Hibernate and remove the Hibernate file from the root ( C: ) ( file is 300mb+ )

2) Turn off System Restore on ALL drives

3) Move the Pagefile to another drive like D:

4) Go into MSCONFIG and on the tab “startup” remove all the crap you do not need

5) Advanced Settings : see Below

Go to Start > Programs > Admin Tools > services

Double-click on the unwanted service to get the options for it

Click “STOP” to stop it if it is running

Change the start-up type from Automatic/Manual to DISABLED

The Following Services May Be Disabled :

* Alerter

* Clipbook

* Computer Browser

* Fast User Switching

* Human Interface Access Devices

* Indexing Service (Slows the hard drive down)

* Messenger

* Net Logon (unnecessary unless networked on a Domain)

* Netmeeting Remote Desktop Sharing (disabled for extra security)

* Remote Desktop Help Session Manager (disabled for extra security)

* Remote Procedure Call Locator

* Remote Registry (disabled for extra security)

* Routing & Remote Access (disabled for extra security)

* SSDP Discovery Service (this is for the utterly pointless “Universal P’n’P”, & leaves TCP Port 5000 wide open)

6) Windows xp has the service shutdown time set to 20000 ms which equals 20 secs (no wonder it takes so long).

Go to regedit and change the key :

I set mine to 0 ms and now i shutdown way fast. Experiment with the settings.

Before we start tweaking, I recommend you set up a few things on your operating system.

Make sure you have Administrator privileges on the computer you are
tweaking as some options may have been disabled for use by standard
users. Also, there’s ClearType. ClearType basically works to make text
on your screen appear much clearer and readable

To turn ClearType on, just access your Display properties in Control Panel,

then click on the ‘Appearances’ tab. Then click the ‘Effects…’ button.

Tick ‘Use the following method to smooth edges of screen fonts…’ and change the listbox to ‘ClearType’.

Then just click OK, Apply, and close down your dialogs.

It is very important to apply grease properly when replacing fuser film sleeves. Improper installation will result in no-turning or damage of the film. Please follow the following instruction to replace fuser film sleeves:

• 1. Take off damaged/used fixing film from fixing film assembly or fuser.
• 2. Clean surface of heating element using Q-tip with alcohol.
• 3. Scoop up grease from the grease container with a spatula, a wooden spatula is preferred. Apply grease to about 15-20 places on the surface of the heater (heating element and fixture). Total amount of grease to apply is around 0.035oz or 1 gram.

Place the spatula at an angle on the surface of the heater and with one forward and backward movement spread the grease evenly over the surface. Make sure no grease is applied to the surface of the film sleeve.

Slide film onto heater so that the end with grounding ring positions to the same end where in the fuser the grounding conductor is located. And make sure they are in good contact. (There could be different kinds of grounding conductors in different models. Most common one is conductive rubber gear on pressure roller. In such case, the grounding ring should be in the same end and in good contact with the rubber gear.)

Turn the film many times by hands. When you feel film turning is free, you can assemble fixing film assembly with pressure roller.

Bonjour, also known as zero-configuration networking, enables automatic discovery of computers, devices, and services on IP networks. Bonjour uses industry standard IP protocols to allow devices to automatically discover each other without the need to enter IP addresses or configure DNS servers.

If you’ve installed software by Apple such as iTunes, software by Adobe such as Premiere Pro, Skype, Gizmo, chances are there’s already a Bonjour folder in your Program Files. This service starts automatically and runs a process named mDNSResponder.exe which cannot be ended by Windows Task Manager. If you do not want Bonjour to be in your computer and want to uninstall it, sometimes you can’t find any uninstaller for it! Even if you go to Control Panel’s Add or Remove Program, you can’t find the uninstaller there as well.

Here’s how to safely uninstall Bonjour and remove mDNSResponder.exe

Just follow the few simple steps below to remove Bonjour fro your computer.

1. Go to Start > Run > type the command below and hit OK.

“%PROGRAMFILES%BonjourmDNSResponder.exe” -remove

2. Navigate to C:Program FilesBonjour
3. Rename the mdnsNSP.dll file in that folder to mdnsNSP.old
4. Restart your computer
5. Delete the Program FilesBonjour folder

The first command will stop and remove Bonjour Service from your computer. To confirm, go to Start > Run and type services.msc. Look for Bonjour Service name. If it’s not there, you’ve successfully removed it.

Gizmo Project has created a small tool (35KB TurnOffBonjour.exe) that turns off and removes Bonjour service. However, it will not remove the Bonjour folder from Program Files. You will still need to manually delete the Bonjour folder after restart. The reason why you’re advised to delete the folder after restart is in case there’s a problem, the Bonjour files are still there for you to restore.

If you encountered problems after uninstalling or removing Bonjour, you can download and reinstall Bonjour.

1. พิมพ์ regedit ในช่อง run แล้วเข้าไปที่ HKey_Local_MachineSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsNTCurrent VersionWPAEvents, ทางด้านขวา ดับเบิ้ลคลิ๊กที่ oobetimer
แล้วลบตัว เลขที่อยู่ในนั้นให้หมด (จะเหลือเลข 0 อยู่สี่ตัว ลบไม่ได้)อันนี้เป็นการล้างค่าที่ไมโครซอฟท์ใช้ตรวจสอบวินโดวส์ขอเราครับ เสร็จแล้วกด OK แล้วปิดไปได้เลย

2. จากนั้นพิมพ์ %systemroot%system32oobemsoobe.exe /a ลงในช่อง run แล้วกด Enter จะปรากฎหน้าต่างของ Activate Windows ขึ้นมา
จากนั้นให้เลือกที่ Yes, I want to telephone a customer service representative to activate Windows แล้วคลิ๊กที่ Next

3. จากนั้นคลิ๊กที่ Change Product Key โดยที่ไม่ต้องใส่อะไรทั้งนั้นในหน้านี้

4. จากนั้นให้ใส่ Product Key ::: B3P7V-Q2WTH-CRK4R-YHJRF-39H4M

แล้วคลิ๊กที่ Update เมื่อเสร็จเรียบร้อยแล้วก็ให้ปิดหน้าต่างนี้ไปได้เลย โดยคลิ๊กที่ X ที่มุมขวาบน

5. รีสตาร์ทเครื่องหนึ่งครั้ง แล้งลองพิมพ์ %systemroot%system32oobemsoobe.exe /a แล้วกด Enter จะปรากฎคำว่า Windows is already activated
ถ้าขึ้นตามนี้ก็แสดงว่าทุกอย่างเรียบร้อยแล้วครับ

6. ทดสอบโดยการตรวจสอบกับทางไมโครซอฟท์ โดยการเปิด Windows Explorer แล้วเลือกที่ Help แล้วเลือกที่ ตรวจสอบลิจสิทธิ์วินโดวส์ ถ้ามันบอกว่าเป็นของแท้ก็ลุย
อัพเดท โหลดและติดตั้งโปรแกรมฟรีของไมโครซอฟท์ ทั้ง Windows Defeder , WMP11 และอื่น ๆ ได้เลย

1 .โดยถอดปลั๊กไฟ AC ออก แล้วกดปุ่ม power บนเครื่องพิมพ์ค้างไว้ แล้วเสียบปลั๊ก
ปล่อยปุ่ม power กดปุ่ม power 1 ครั้ง เครื่องพิมพ์ก็เข้าสู่ service mode
2 .ก่อนที่จะ reset ให้เปิด status หรือ สถานะของเครื่องพิมพ์ขึ้นมาไว้ดูก่อน
3 .ให้ใช้เทปกาวปิดที่คอนแท็กแถวที่1 จากบนลงมา ที่ตลับ CL-41แล้วใส่เข้าไปในเครื่อง ปิดฝาครอบ รอ 5 วิ แล้วเปิดออก แล้วให้ถอดตลับ PG-40 ออก รอ 5 วิ ใส่เข้าไปใหม่

5. เปิดฝาครอบ ถอดตลับหมึก ออก เอาเทปกาวที่ปิดไว้ออก แล้วใส่ตลับหมึกเข้าไปใหม่ (สถานะจะบอกว่าหมึกเต็ม)
7 .ปิดเครื่องแล้วเปิดใหม่

ถ้าจะ reset หมึกสื canon CL-41 ก็ทำดังนี้คับ
